Latvia Takes 7th Place in Global Cyber Security Index

ic01_dome_clock_ievacikax.jpgThe Global Cyber Security Index, devised by the ABI Research company, shows Latvia in seventh place among the countries, who were rated according to five criteria.

While Estonia takes fifth place and Lithuania fourteenth, the research has the USA at the top of the list, followed by Canada in the second place and Australia, Malaysia and Oman - in the third.

The Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) is a research project to rank the cybersecurity capabilities of nation states. Cybersecurity has a wide field of application that cuts across many industries and sectors. Each country’s level of development therefore is analyzed within five categories: Legal Measures, Technical Measures, Organizational Measures, Capacity Building and Cooperation.

The Index's objective is to determine how well countries are meeting their obligations in ensuring cyber security.

The final results for 2014 were announced at ITU Telecom World'14, Doha on 9 December.
