International Girls in ICT Day 2014 events

Oracle Academy, AISINDO, ITS

East Java Province, Indonesia, 2014, March 26

Computer science for Girls  is the event  to reach young girls and raise awareness of the importance of Computer Science as a subject. Not everyone wants to become a computer engineer but computer science education will be helpful for many different careers available in the future. Oracle Academy wants them to support other females and rise as a demographic. When there are more women leaders, they will support and encourage more younger working women to succeed.

Woman Can do IT conference was held in Indonesia with participation from 287 female students and faculty from 12 universities majoring computer science in East Java province with the keynote speaker Senior Oracle Database Consultant, Anne Yurico and external speaker Nur Aini Rakhmawati, Founder of KLUWEK (Indonesian Linux  Women User Group), PhD candidate in the National University in Ireland.

Students gained new insights on how to achieve computer science skills before entering the workforce. Students must have a passion for the world of IT because IT is a simple definition of "creation and adaption in a new technology". Women can pursue a career in IT as men and occupy important positions.
