ITU/PRIDA workshop on Spectrum Monitoring, 1 - 2 November 2022, Cape Town, South Africa

​​The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is pleased to invite you to participate in the ITU/PRIDA Workshop on Spectrum Monitoring from 1 - 2 November 2022 in Cape Town International Convention Centre​,​ Cape Town, South Africa back- to-back with the 7th Sub-Saharan Spectrum Management Conference from 3 - 4 November 2022 (organized by Forum Europe) at the same venue, hosted by ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa). 

PRIDA is an initiative by the African Union Commision(AUC), European Union(EU) and ITU. It also includes Regional Economic Communities(RECs), African Telecommunications Union(ATU), Regional Regulatory Associations, National Regulators, and other stakeholders. It includes many direct and indirect actions for helping African countries to achieve efficient and harmonized spectrum utilization across Africa (harmonize wireless broadband internet spectrum), including training, capacity building, workshops, creation of national, regional and Africa level Guidelines and Roadmaps, etc.

This workshop will allow radiocommunications engineers in charge of spectrum to acquaint themselves on the new spectrum monitoring tools, techniques, and the new digital technologies to be used for an efficient management of spectrum. In addition, the newly validated Harmonized Calculation Method for Africa (HCM4A) on cross borders coordination will be presented during the event.

This ITU workshop is organized just before the Spectrum Management Conference and delegates are invited to attend given the events also cover the technical aspects of 5G, discussions on 5G and 6G, and relevant agenda items of the World Radio Communication Conference 2023(WRC-2023).

Fellowships will be granted for one delegate per country to cover the costs of air-ticket and Daily Subsistence Allowances (DSAs) for each PRIDA focal point. Due to the limited award of fellowships, priority will be given to delegates from the least developed countries (LDCs) of Africa region and participation of women is encouraged. The completed fellowship form is required to be sent to fellowships@itu.int no later than 19 October 2022.
