ITU Policy and Economic Colloquium for the Americas IPEC-25 - Montevideo, Uruguay 6-10 October, 2025

ABOUT

ITU Policy and Economics Colloquium (IPEC-25) for the Americas will take place physically in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 6 t​o 10 October 2025. The event will be organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with the Dirección Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (Dinatel) of Uruguay. ​

This year, the ITU IPEC-25 for the Americas will include the: 
    • ITU-D Regional Economic Dialogue (including a session on ITU-D Study Group 1 Question 4/1: Economic aspects of national telecommunications/ICT) to be held 6 and 7 October, including the ITU Digital Regulation Network (DRN) session on Building an innovative ecosystem to address regional and global challenges [AGENDA​];​
    • BDT Workshop on emerging technologies for innovative connectivity solutions: policy, economic and technical aspects 8 October (morning) ; 
    • Meeting of ITU-T Study Group 3 Regional Group for Latin America and the Caribbean (SG3RG-LAC​) 8 (afternoon) and 9 October ; 
    • Meeting of the ITU-T Study Group 2 Regional Group for ​​the Americas (SG2RG-AMR​) to be held 10 October.

PURPOSE

The Regional Economic Dialogue (RED-AMS) will focus this year, on the following themes: 

    • Building an innovative ecosystem to address regional and global challenges to be addressed in the framework of the Digital Regulation Network (DRN) session on policy and regulation in the Americas region;
    • Understanding the technology needs of tomorrow; space and terrestrial spectrum;
    • Costing and tariff policies issues in the framework of the ITU-D Question 4/1 Econo​mic Aspects of national telecommunications/ICT (ITU-D Question 4/1​) ​​

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Telecommunication/ICT​ National Regulatory Authorities (NRA) of ITU Member States; ITU Sector Members, Associates and Academia; Regional Regulatory Associations in the Americas region (RA); International Organizations and ICT stakeholders, and other relevant regulatory agencies, ICT policymakers and staff from sector members dealing with policy, regulatory and economic matters.
