International ICT Volunteers 2016 (IIV-2016)

International ICT Volunteers (IIV)

Since 2012, IIT Programme has dispatched more than 400 volunteers to over 10 countries of the Asia-Pacific region.

Key Activities

Key activities of the volunteers include:

ICT Training/Education

Volunteers provide basic and advanced IT training according to the needs of the local organizations/communities. The training targets e.g. government officials, teachers, students, young people, Persons with Disabilities, and any other people who wish to learn more about ICTs. Training courses are such as basic programming, office applications, Internet, web design and development, multimedia applications, and etc.

ICT Project

Volunteers assist local organizations in implementing small projects such as website development, database development, computer networking, mobile application development, and etc.

Cultural Exchange

Volunteers exchange cultures with local communities, for examples, sport, traditional game, cuisine, language, music and arts. The cultural exchange has proven an effective method to attract local people to join other volunteers’ activities and helped build long-term relationship among them.

IIV Boot Camp 2016

Prior to dispatching the volunteers to countries, ITU organizes a Boot Camp which is aimed to train the volunteers in necessary skills required for their assignments during the field works. The Boot Camp also provides an opportunity for the volunteers to meet with their respective country coordinators before going together to the countries. The IIV Boot Camp this year will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand during 4 and 6 July 2016 at Siripanna Resort and Spa. The tentative programme is as below.
