Girls in ICT Day Thailand 2020

International Girls in ICT Day is celebra​​ted worldwide every year on the fourth Thursday of April, which is an opportunity for girls and young women to see and experience technology in a whole new light. Over 377,000 girls and young women have taken part in more than 11,400 celebrations of International Girls in ICT Day in 171 countries worldwide since 2011.​

In Thailand, the Ministry of Digital Econoy and Society (MDES-Thailand), the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC-Thailand) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) have been celebrating the Girls in ICT Day since 2017. Together with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Geo-informatics Center (Asian Institute of Technology), the DTAC, the CISCO, the Research Center of Communication and Development Knowledge Management (CCDKM), capacity building programs have been implemented with the aim of imparting employable digital skills to girls and young women in the country. Following the launch, more than 400 female students have been trained in the areas of “Agritech Using ICTs," and “Networking".


In 2020, the Girls in ICT Day celebration in Thailand hold virtually through the month of August and September, due to the COVID-19.

​The Plenary and Launching Ceremony hold virtually via Cisco Webex platform on the 17 August 2020. As the first activity, this ceremony also introduced the four tracks that will take place throughout the Girls in ICT Day Thailand program.
