Training for Trainers under Connect a School Initiative, Kyrgyz Republic, March-April 2016

OVERVIEW

A series of short-term training courses for informatics teachers of rural settlements of Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the ITU Connect a School initiative was organized by the ITU Area Office for CIS in cooperation with the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication under Kyrgyz State Technical University named after I.Razzakov.

The trainings for Kyrgyz informatics teachers were first organized in 2012, and, considering the positive feedback from the trainees and the appreciation of the Government of Kyrgyz Republic, the trainings were continued in 2013, 2014, and 2015.

This year trainings covered 5 regions of Kyrgyz Republic: Issyk Kul, Osh, Zhalal Abad, Naryn, and Talas. Total number of teachers trained is 107, including 83 women. 

The trainings are aimed at improvement of digital literacy of the school teachers, which, in its turn, directly influences the level of computer literacy of Kyrgyz school children, including girls, who are potential mothers and for whom access to ICT makes  information on maternal health care services, family planning etc. more accessible.
