Capacity development on ICT statistics

ITU assists governments in ICT data collection and dissemination efforts. Support is provided for the production of statistics in the areas of ICT infrastructure and access indicators and indicators on the access and use by household and individuals. ​ 

ITU ONLINE TRAINING COURSE ON MEASURING DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT: ICT ACCESS AND USE BY HOUSEHOLDS AND INDIVIDUALS

The training aims to assist national statistical offices in collecting and compiling ICT statistics on the access and use to ICTs by households and individuals. The online course provides guidance on the collection, processing, evaluation and dissemination of ICT household statistics. It presents the definitions of the indicators following the ITU Manual for measuring ICT access and use by households and individuals, as well practical advice how to plan, design and conduct ICT household surveys.​ 

The 2023 edition of this training (in English) is available on the ITU Academy portal. Before official publication of the Russian version of the course, the training modules could be downloaded from the link below.  The training is free of charge. The coursework in total requires about three full days, but can be followed at one's own pace. To start training, please visit the ITU Academy portal and create a user account.

The training aims to strengthen the capacity of the telecommunication administrations and regulatory agencies to collect, process and disseminate telecommunication/ICT indicators. The online course contains definitions and methodologies of the indicators following the ITU Handbook for the collection of administrative data on telecommunications/ICT. The training provides for examples of data gaps and challenges faced by countries in data collection and  analyses, and suggests possible solutions.
