Regional E-Waste Monitor for the Western Balkans Launching Event

As we confront the escalating challenge of e-waste in the region, the Regional E-Waste Monitor for the Western Balkans Report was launched on 11th December 2023. Globally, e-waste poses a significant threat to sustainable development, necessitating comprehensive data for effective policymaking and sustainable waste management. The Western Balkan countries are no exception, experiencing a surge in e-waste due to technological advancements and increased purchasing power.

Initiated in January 2022, the joint ITU-UNEP-UNITAR project aimed to collect internationally comparable e-waste statistics in the region, leading to the development of a comprehensive report. This event marked the final milestone, presenting regional and national findings, contextualized by National Focal Points, and fostering discussions on the report's implications.

The virtual event highlighted sustainable solutions and aimed to garner policy momentum in addressing e-waste challenges in the Western Balkans region.
