We are pleased to announce that the ITU Office for Europe has launched a call for nominations of new members of the Generation Connect – Europe Youth Group (GC-EUR) being part of the “Generation Connect" global initiative, which aims to engage global youth and encourage their participation as equal partners alongside the leaders of today's digital change.

GC-EUR aims to provide a unique participative process for youth to contribute to the work of ITU in the European region. Through this platform, youth will be consulted and will work on a range of activities to advance and voice the youth concerns and perspectives with ITU Memberships and the wider tech audience on digital transformation and on the 5 ITU Regional Initiatives for Europe: Digital infrastructure, Digital Transformation for resilience, Digital inclusion and skills development, Trust and security in the use of ICTs, Innovation ecosystem building.  The GC-EUR will also provide a platform to its envoys to advocate for and promote the needs and interests of the European Youth at the global level in the ITU decision-making processes and youth events.

The commitment to continue the engagement with European Youth through the GC-EUR mechanism has been reiterated during the recent ITU Regional Development Forum (RDF) for Europe which serves as the platform for assessing strategic orientations of ITU’s regional work plan between ITU and decision-makers of ITU Member States and Sector Members and other European Stakeholders.  to assess the orientation of ITU’s regional work plan.

Are you a citizen of the Europe region* between 18 and 25 and have an interest and/or experience and knowledge of digital transformation? Are you eager to contribute to the work of ITU in Europe? This is your opportunity to be part of a group of young leaders that will design and lead exciting activities under the ITU umbrella priorities. You will also be consulted and able to share with ITU membership your and other Youth interests, concerns, and perspectives on digital transformation. 

European youth are kindly invited to submit their candidatures through the online form by 10 September 2023, 11:59 p.m. CET. The composition of the group will be announced after an in-depth analysis of all candidatures. Check the full list of selection criteria here.
