Fibre Open Data has the potential to promote increased knowledge of ICT infrastructure and foster innovative solutions to extend connectivity reach. 

Work Group on open fibre standard: 

• The ITU and the World Bank are co-leading a Fiber Open Data initiative for Africa, to promote the use of open ICT infrastructure data aiming at: Enhancing data quality; and foster innovative on connectivity solutions by the community at large​
