Paraguay hosts Regional Development Forum for the Americas

The ITU Regional Development Forum for the Americas, was held in Asunción, Paraguay on 21 February 2017.

The Forum was organized by ITU at the kind invitation of the Comisión Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CONATEL) of Paraguay.

The Forum provided an opportunity for high-level dialogue, cooperation and partnerships among telecommunication/ICT policy-makers, regulators, industry, academia, regional and international development agencies and organizations on specific regional telecommunication/ICT issues.

"The Telecommunication Development Bureau is focusing with passion and determination on the implementation of the Regional Initiatives because through their implementation we can provide a powerful tool to help integration and communication across distances and cultures," said Mr Brahima Sanou.

He added, "as we embark on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), policy makers, regulators, private sector, development partners and all stakeholders of the ICT ecosystem need more than ever to establish an inclusive, multistakeholder and collaborative dialogue to achieve socio-economic development."

The RDF was followed by the WTDC-17 Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Americas from 22-24 February 2017.
