MAZZONE Giacomo

Qualifications: Manager with 30 years’ experience in the information, sport and international relations sectors, trained as a journalist, with a great deal of experience in international companies and organizations (RAI, Euronews, Eurosport, and now EBU). Has worked for all traditional media (press, radio, general interest TV) but also new media (all-news channels, Internet portals). Expert in European and international negotiations.

Currently working at European Broadcasting Union as Head of Institutional Relations and of Members Relations . January 2011 - current

As head of Institutional Relations is in charge of the relations with the United Nations system (ITU, UNESCO, IGF, UNCTAD, etc.) , with the Council of Europe and other international bodies.
Since 2014 he is the representative of WBU (World Broadcasting Union) into the GAC (Government Advisory Board ) of ICANN and the same year was also appointed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon as member of the UN advisory board for the governance of the Internet. He also represents EBU in the IGF – Internet Governance Forum and in the EuroDIG (the European coordination for the Internet Governance) and in the WSIS follow up process, the initiative created after the World Summit of Information Society of Tunis 2005.
Within ITU has coordinated the broadcasting participation to the Guidelines for Children on Line protection for industries and the production of the toolkit for a greener broadcasting, one outcome of the WG on climate change.
