The session provides an overview of key challenges that operators and other stakeholders face with regard to vulnerabilities of signalling protocols. It will also provide overview of potential measures that are deployed and used over the existing networks in order to defend customers against different types of attacks such as telephone spam, spoofing numbers, location tracking, subscriber fraud, intercept calls and messages, DoS, infiltration attacks, routing attacks, etc.

​14:30 - 16:00Session 2: Overview of standardization and research activities related to combat different types of attacks on existing ICT networks using different protocols

The session will provide an overview of standardization and research activities within ITU-T, other SDOs/For a/Consortia related to combat different types of attacks on existing ICT networks.

​Brainstorming

This session offers an opportunity to the audience to discuss the potential areas of ITU standardization which may facilitate the improvement of the security mechanisms for different protocols. It will also discuss the need to standardize the identity verification process of a party requesting a certificate, its issuance process by the Trusted Signalling Certification Authority (TSCA) and the distribution of the issued certificate to the operators. In addition, the brainstorming session will discuss the possibility to use the existing Global Title (GT) issuance process for this purpose.
