Ninth SG13 Regional Workshop for Africa on “Standardization of Future Networks and Emerging Network Technologies: African perspectives”

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU)​ organized ​the 9th SG13 Regional Workshop for Africa on “Standardization of Future Networks and Emerging Network Technologies: African perspectives” that took place on 19 - 20 September 2023 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire​. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy of Côte d’Ivoire​. 
The workshop was collocated with the ITU-T SG13 Regional Group for Africa (SG13 RG-AFR) and ITU-T SG2 Regional Group for Africa​ meetings​ (SG2RG-AFR). Remote participation was provided for the workshop.
Objectives
This two-day workshop aimed to deal with hot topics of Study Group 13 in the current study period, mainly IMT-2020 and beyond IMT-2020 networks, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for future networks, network evolution, trust, Quantum enhanced networking, Cloud Computing and Data Handling. Sessions also discussed African perspectives and standardization priorities in relation with these topics and share related countries’ experiences and successful stories from Africa.

Target audience
Participation in the workshop was open to ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic Institutions and to any individual from a country that is a member of ITU who wishes to contribute to the work. This included individuals who are also members of international, regional and national organizations. Participation in the workshop was free of charge. ​
