Person IconSebastian Bosse 
Head, Interactive & Cognitive Systems Group

Sebastian Bosse is head of the Interactive & Cognitive Systems group at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), Berlin, Germany. He studied electrical engineering and information technology at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain. Sebastian received the Dr.-Ing. degree in computer science (with highest distinction) from the Technical University Berlin in 2018. During his studies, he was a visiting researcher at Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, USA. In 2014, Sebastian was a guest scientist in the Stanford Vision and Neuro-Development Lab (SVNDL) at Stanford University, USA. After 10 years as a research engineer working in the Image & Video Compression group and later in the Machine Learning group, he founded the research group on Interactive & Cognitive Systems at Fraunhofer HHI in 2020 that he has headed since. Sebastian is a lecturer at the German University in Cairo. He is on the board of the Video Quality Expert Group (VQEG) and on the advisory board of the Interational AIQT Foundation. Sebastian is an affiliate member of VISTA, York University, Toronto, and serves as an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. Since 2021 he has been appointed a chair for the ITU focus group on Artificial Intelligence for Agriculture. His current research interests include the modelling of perception and cognition, machine learning, computer vision, and human-machine interaction over a wide field of applications ranging from multimedia and augmented reality, through medicine to agriculture and industrial production.​

Co-Founder, Emergent Swarm Solutions

Lennart Bult is the Co-Founder of Emergent Swarm Solutions, a startup in Delft specializing in autonomous swarm robotics. With a background in aerospace engineering from Delft University of Technology and experience working at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in the United States, he is also a co-founder of the TU Delft Swarming Lab, a place for swarming research, education, and demonstrations. Emergent focuses on developing innovative technologies for applications like environmental monitoring, defense, and search and rescue.​​

Scientist- Digital Agriculture, Fraunhofer HHI, Germany​

Dr. Raghu Chaliganti is a leading digital agriculture policy analyst specializing in climate change, agroecology, and agri-food systems. As a Research Associate at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, he leads the ACRAT project, promoting climate-resilient agriculture in Telangana through data-driven innovations. He chairs the FAO/ITU Working Group on Digital Agriculture Use Cases, influencing scalable use cases and digital agricultural policies on AI and IoT in agriculture. His consultancy work spans EU-India agri-food market analysis, seed market evaluations, climate change knowledge networks, and biofuel policies. Dr. Chaliganti is passionate about  digital innovations and developing effective decision support systems for small-scale farming.

Project Officer | Advisor​

Mythili Menon works as Project Officer at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in the domain of standardization for new and emerging technologies. She serves as the Advisor of the ITU/WMO/UNEP Focus Group on Artificial Intelligence for Natural Disaster Management (FG-AI4NDM) and the ITU/FAO Focus Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) for Digital Agriculture (FG-AI4A). Mythili possesses a strong background in environmental science, standardization, and the policy frameworks underlying sustainable development issues. Between 2015-2017, she worked for the ITU-T Study Group 20 on ‘Internet of Things and Smart Cities and Communities’ and ITU-T Study Group 5 on ‘Environment, Climate Change, and Circular Economy’. Previously, she worked as the Standardization Lead at Mandat International for various EU Horizon 2020 projects. Mythili holds a Masters in ‘Standardization, Social Regulation and Sustainable Development’ from the University of Geneva. She completed her Bachelors in ‘Environmental Science and Chemistry’ from University College Utrecht in the Netherlands. The areas relating to the sustainable development goals, artificial intelligence, blockchain, intelligent transport systems, disaster management, data management, smart cities, and IoT are of enduring interest to her and she has co-authored several publications on these subjects.

Global Digital Farming Policy & Public Affairs Lead, Bayer AG​

Philipp-Andreas Schmidt leads Bayer’s global public policy efforts relating to the digital transformation of agriculture and the companies digital farming business unit. Key areas of focus include AI regulation, Data Policies and agtech adoption support. He has been with Bayer for 10+ years in a number of capacities throughout Europe as well as the United States, including in Brussels with a core focus on digital policies and the EU Green Deal. Prior to joining Bayer, Philipp-Andreas was a staff member to a representative in the United States Congress. He holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.

Senior Scientist and Theme Ambassador ‘Digital Innovation for Sustainable Food Systems’, Wageningen University & Research, Wageningen, The Netherlands​

Sjaak holds a PhD degree on Crop Science and Information Technology from Wageningen University. His current research topics are the application of Internet of Things and Big Data with special attention to socio-economic aspects such as data economy, data spaces and the digital innovation ecosystems. He is scientific coordinator of (inter)national projects such as the Internet of Food and Farm 2020, SmartAgriHubs and Data4Food2030. He was president of the European Federation of ICT in Agriculture (EFITA), author of numerous scientific papers and a regular speaker at international conferences. Sjaak is a visionary and likes to be challenged by complex socio-technical problems that require a science-based approach.

Founder of Agri-AI / Strategic Advisor, The Netherlands​

Cynthia Zhu is active in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) within the agricultural sector. She grew up and was educated in China, holding a degree in Business Economics and an MBA in Strategy and Innovation from the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Her research concentrated on the acceptance and adoption of AI in Dutch agribusiness. Cynthia is an active strategic advisor in the agri-food sector and a guest professor specializing in AI and agriculture. Previously, she led significant projects in 4G network deployment, Fiber to the Home, and smart city Amsterdam initiatives. Her vision is to seamlessly integrate technology into agriculture. With a strong foundation in both telecommunications and agriculture, Cynthia founded Agri-AI. Her company is at the forefront of using AI to transform agricultural practices. Cynthia’s work addresses the unique challenges of the agricultural sector, focusing on enhancing sustainability, operational efficiency, and contributing to food security. She is passionate about exploring and implementing innovative ideas in daily agricultural practices.​
