Mr. Lathia has 35 years of senior management experience in telecommunications industries. His last position was as VP Strategy & Standardization. He has been involved in product and standardization strategy at both European (ETSI) and global (ITU) level since 1992. He has been defining fixed/mobile product strategies and their standardization issues including cost/benefit analysis. He has also made standardization related presentations at numerous conferences worldwide.
At ITU, Mr. Lathia has participated in ITU Council, TSAG, WTSA, WTDC and PleniPotentiary conferences as representative of Member State Italy; as well as in ITU-T and ITU-D Study Group meetings. He was a Vice Chairman of ITU-T SG 19 (IMT-2000 and beyond).
At ETSI, he has been involved at all its strategic management levels including its Board and as Chairman of Finance Committee. and was instrumental in creation of the global Partnership Project for mobile communications standardization (3GPP).
Currently, he is a founder of ICT Standard Edge Ltd. UK which provides strategic consulting services regarding standardization and regulation.
Graduated as Electrical Engineer with Magna cum Laude, Mr. Lathia is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, UK.
