Introduction

As a follow-up to the call for action by the CTO meeting held on 11 October 2015 at Hungexpo in Budapest, Hungary, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)  organized a one-day workshop on "Voice and Video Services Interoperability Over Fixed-Mobile Hybrid Environments, Including IMT-Advanced (LTE)" on
1 December 2015 at ITU Headquarters in conjunction with the meetings of  ITU-T Study Group 13 (30 November - 11 December 2015) and ITU-T Study Group 11 (2-11 December 2015).

A showcasing event took place during the Workshop. It aimed to demonstrate the variety of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Video over LTE (ViLTE) technical solutions which are available in ICT industry. All interested parties including vendors and operators were invited to participate in the showcasing. Participation is free of charge. To enable the ITU Secretariat to make the necessary arrangements concerning the organization of the showcasing, interested parties were requested to confirm their participation via email to: conformity@itu.int as soon as possible and before 23 November 2015.

Service interoperability in fixed-mobile hybrid environments, including IoT, will be crucial in supporting a wide variety of high-quality services. CTOs recognized the need to expand access to high-quality, bi-directional services and invited ITU-T to encourage the standardization, testing and interoperability necessary to stimulate the rollout of these services in fields such as voice and video.
