Title of presentation: Smart Sustainable Cities and Communities Concept in Developing Countries

Urbanization in developing countries is a necessity for economic development. However, the rapid urbanization has instead led to high rates of the urban poor who are less privileged to services and infrastructure. Although the perception of Smart Cities is still forming in the developing world, there is opportunity on building on already existing infrastructure, learning from mistakes made by the developed countries and social inclusivity. This can all be aided through enhanced political will by putting the right policies and strategies in place, affordable broadband, investing in tech infrastructure and supporting innovation among others, as well as creating more smart cities to spread the population.
