KATUNDU Michael

KATUNDU.jpgMr. Michael Katundu is a Director, Information Technology (IT) at the Kenya’s ICT Regulatory Authority, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA). Mr. Katundu is a holder of a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer science and a Master’s Degree in Computer science, both from the City University of New York (CUNY).

Mr. Katundu has over 18 years experience in the IT field, having worked in the United States of America (USA) and in Kenya in various private and public sectors.

Mr. Katundu was involved in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) process and he successfully coordinated the re-delegation process of the dot KE Country Code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD), the Kenya Network Information Centre (KENIC), the designated dot KE management entity in Kenya.

Mr. Katundu is currently the Chairperson of the National Kenya Computer Incident Response Team–Coordination Centre Cybersecurity Committee (NKCC), whose mandate is to coordinate the operations of the National Kenya Computer Incident Response Team-Coordination Centre (KE-CIRT/CC). He is also the Chairperson of the East Africa Communications Organisations (EACO) IP Networks, Standards and Cybersecurity Committee whose mandate is to coordinate the establishment of the National Computer Incidence Response Teams (CIRTs) in the various East African countries.

Mr. Katundu is also the Kenya’s representative in the ITU-T Study Group 17, United Nations (UN) Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF) Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) and the Kenya’s representative in the Government Advisory Committee (GAC) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and a former Vice-Chairman of the GAC of ICANN.
