Mitsuji Matsumoto

MMatsumoto.jpgProf Mitsuji Matsumoto graduated from the Graduate School of Engineering of Gunma University in 1968.  He got a Master’s degree from Gunma University and a Doctor’s degree from Waseda University. He joined NTT Laboratories in 1970, where he was engaged in research and development of terminal design for telematics and multimedia systems. In 1996 he joined the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University as a Professor, with research work in Optical Radio Wireless Application Engineering in both Indoor/outdoor communications supported by a number research projects including MIC with NTT, Sharp, and Stanley Electric, NICT contract research with Osaka University (2006-09). In 2008, he was a visiting professor at SSSA (Italy), and is involved with the EU COST Action IC1101. He also has experiences in working at the ITU-T standardization activities for more than 30 years, as rapporteur, Working Party Chairman, Study Group 16 Vice Chairman. From 2008, he worked in Kaleidoscope Steering Committee and from 2012, he has been working in the ITU-IEICE-IEEE Workshop on Education about Standardization. 1n 2013, he became the President of the Institute of Image Electronics and Engineers of Japan. In his research group he has hosted a large number of international students from 18 countries. He is a member of SMIEEE, MIET, IEICE and IIEEJ.
