Yu-Ao Chen

Yu-Ao Chen received his Master’s degree from USTC in 2004, and his doctorate from Heidelberg University in 2008. After spending several years as postdoctoral researcher and project leader in Germany, Yu-Ao was appointed as a professor at USTC in 2011. His current research focuses on quantum simulation with ultra-cold atoms. He has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications that have attracted over 4000 citations. He has been awarded many prestigious prizes including the 2013 Fresnel Prize for fundamental aspects from the EPS, the Qiu Shi Outstanding Youth Scholar in China, the Tan Kah Kee Young Scientist Award and the 2016 Young Scientist Award for the Commission on AMO from the IUPAP.​
