Mitsuji MATSUMOTO

​​​​​​​​​Mitsuji MATSUMOTO retired from NTT Research Laboratory in 1996, then engaged in Education and Research at Waseda University. He obtained his PhD, and is now a Professor Emeritus. In 2008, he joined the National Inter-University Consortium (CNIT, Pisa/Italy) as a Visiting Research Professor.

His main research interests is optical wireless communication systems, using Laser beam, Infrared and visible light. He is also engaged in the international standardization activities for telecommunication terminals over public networks. Regarding ITU activities, he started in 1979 when he joined study groups for Facsimile/Telematics and Multimedia in CCITT/ITU-T and now in ITU-D for Accessibility policy and regulation. Innovative results were published in more than 170 papers (including 57 IEEE papers) in international/national conference proceedings, journals and books chapters. He is a member of Kaleidoscope steering committee, IIEEJ Fellow, MIET and Senior member of IEEE.
