Episode #3: Telecom Use cases

The third DLT Meet-up series was held exceptionally on the second Wednesday of the month due to the upcoming Chinese Golden week holidays.

The discussion focused on Telecom Use cases. Despite many recent advancements in research and development of distributed ledger technologies (DLT), their deployment by the telecom industry remains largely a theoretical exercise. There are not many available use cases in which DLT has been concretely leveraged to foster business development. This third  ITU DLT meet-up focused on real-world use cases. We explored how these use cases were built, and the added value DLT has brought. The presenters also shed light on the experience gained, the challenges, and areas of improvement for DLT. The discussion then explored practical steps towards the development of a methodology for telecom operators to build their DLT-based solutions.

Participation in the meet-up was  open to ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academic Institutions and to any individual from a country that is a member of ITU who wishes to contribute to the work. This included individuals from the DLT technology and service providers, research institutions, United Nations agencies, regulators, other related professionals, and also members of international, regional and national organizations.
