Aboubakar Zourmba, Cameroon,
Assistant Director General Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART)


Mr Aboubakar Zourmba is the Assistant Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of Cameroon. He has been in this position since 1999.

Mr Zourmba is a telecommunications engineer with an M.Sc. in Engineering from Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom in 1988. Age 55, he has experience in research and development and was R&D engineer in the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (1988-1990) and Sub-Director of Radio-frequencies Management (1990-1998).

Mr Zourmba has participated in several ITU workshops and Regional Radiocommunication seminars. He has represented Cameroon as a delegate to the World Radiocommunication Conference, the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly, the World Telecommunication Development Conference, the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT), ITU Council Sessions and the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference. He was Cameroon National Coordinator for the elaboration of the BDT Project on the Radiomaritime Development Master Plan, 1992-1996 and Vice-Chairman of ITU-T (2000-2008).

Mr Zourmba was Coordinator of Chapter 6 of the CPM Report for WRC-12 (2010-2012); Vice-Chairman of WG2 of the Plenary for WRC-2000; Chairman (COM 6) for WRC-12 and Chairman of the CPM for WRC-15. He was a Member of the Radio Regulation Board (2002-2010) and its Chairman for 2007

Mr Zourmba was Vice-Chairman of the 2013 Session of ITU Council.
