United Arab Emirates launches official PP-18 Host Country Website

ITU's 193 Member States set to meet in October to chart 2020-2023 roadmap

Geneva, 17 April 2018

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), host country of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference 2018 (PP-18), has today officially launched the PP-18 Host Country Website, which provides key information on the city of Dubai, as well as key travel and accommodation information to assist those attending PP-18.

PP-18, ITU's top policy-making body, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 29 October to 16 November 2018. The quadrennial event will convene representatives of the organization's 193 Member States to set out a roadmap for 2020-2023 at a time when information and communication technologies (ICTs) are transforming lives and societies around the globe.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the UAE once again for graciously offering to host the PP-18 Conference," said ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao. "This is one of many examples of the excellent collaboration ITU enjoys with the UAE, a country which in recent years has been a trailblazer in leveraging the power of ICTs for sustainable development."

H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates, said: "We are honored to host the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference. This move is in line with our long history of engagement with ITU for the benefit of human causes in general and those related to the ICT sector in particular. We are looking forward to a very successful event with decisions that will enhance global efforts towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. It is my pleasure to welcome ICT leaders, policy makers and the world to this highly significant conference that will benefit generations to come."
