Geneva, 30 May 2018

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are transforming the world's digital landscape, offering an expanding number of social and economic opportunities. With this digital transformation come new regulatory decision-making needs. These new regulatory frontiers for digital transformation will be the focus of a gathering of regulators, policy makers, industry leaders and other ICT stakeholders, taking place in Geneva, 9-12 July 2018.

With the theme New Regulatory Frontiers, the 18th edition of ITU's Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-18) will foster dynamic dialogue through the sharing of participants' perspectives and experiences. New tools, resources, reports will be launched at GSR-18. This will include the annual Best Practice Guidelines, which regulators from all regions shape, and which are used to establish a new annual international benchmark.

Media are invited to attend the symposium's opening and closing sessions, as well as several special events including a pre-opening event on 9 July: Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity: Policy and regulatory challenges and opportunities. (More information on other special events open to media will be shared in June).

Prior media registration/accreditation is essential to gain access to the event to meet security protocols. UN press accreditation is valid, though UN-accredited media should confirm their intention to attend this event to pressreg@itu.int
