Chaesub Lee of Republic of Korea was elected Director of ITU's Telecommunication Standardization Bureau with 87 votes. 169 countries were present and voting and the required majority was 85. Bilel Jamoussi of Tunisia received 50 votes and Ahmet Erdinç Çavuşoğlu of Turkey received 32 votes.
