The Generation Connect Youth Envoys are a group of inspiring individuals selected at the regional level by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and nominated by Member States. The Generation Connect Youth Envoys will support national, regional, and global initiatives concerning ICTs-related issues for young people on a voluntary basis. The 2024 cohort has 184 Youth Envoys from 64 countries around the world.

The Generation Connect Youth Envoys’ interventions and contributions will exclusively reflect their personal perspectives, and these cannot be interpreted as official positions of their countries or the ITU. 

What do Generation Connect Youth Envoys do?


The Generation Connect Youth Envoys aim to voluntarily support national, regional, and global initiatives concerning ICTs-related issues for young people. This includes involvement in projects targeting youth empowerment through access and use of the ICTs and in activities promoting educational and socio-economic empowerment of the young generation in the digital world. They represent youth voices in discussions, events, and activities related to digital transformation. As changemakers, they voluntary engage to support ITU’s work on providing equal and equitable ICTs opportunities to advance a sustainable and inclusive digital future for the young generation.

Terms of engagement for Generation Connect Youth Envoys are:

  • Co-design /engage/participate in implementation of relevant regional and global initiatives, projects, and events roundtables; consultation groups; events; trainings; workshops and webinars.
  • Amplify and champion the work of Generation Connect in your diverse youth communities,through promotion of and active participation in relevant in ITU projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute proactively with ideas, and by sharing expertise, good practices, and challenges as result of leading their youth related activities with the Generation Connect team.
  • Promote youth digital inclusion recognising and respecting the diversity of ideas and opinions,and maintaining political neutrality in all contributions, focusing only on the scope of themes as agreed with ITU.

The 2024 cohort of Generation Connect Youth Envoys is currently participating in a Knowledge Development Programme that aims to advance learning opportunities for Generation Connect Youth Envoys to empower them become engaged members in their communities, countries and regions of the digital economy, society, and environment as key drivers of the digital world.
