In recent years, there has been a growing threat to hearing and risk of hearing loss among young adults and teenagers due to the common practice of listening to loud music over a prolonged period of time. Toolkit for Safe Listening Devices and Systems provides an evidence-based guide through a consultative process with experts in sound, audiology, acoustics, communication, and smartphone technology to develop global standards on safe listening devices and systems. It summarizes the World Health Organization’s global standards for government, industry and civil leaders with a stake in preventing hearing loss. It also outlines the steps to effective implementation of these global standards. Through education and sound partnerships that spread information on safe listening, the irreversible effects of hearing loss can be prevented before they become a reality.
