There is an increasing worldwide demand for suitable means of broadcasting high-quality sound, multimedia and TV programmes to vehicular, portable and fixed receivers. Digital terrestrial broadcasting offers the potential for new and improved services to consumers, with such advantages as high reliability of service for practically unlimited number of users, free-to-air access, possibility of fixed and mobile reception, etc.

This Report reviews the general characteristics of the systems for digital terrestrial sound, multimedia and TV broadcasting for fixed, portable and mobile reception.
