The Facts and Figures: Focus on Least Developed Countries (LDCs) launched in the lead-up to the Fifth UN Conference on Least Developed Countries looks at the state of digital connectivity in the LDCs. 

The ICT Development Index 2023 (IDI) shows significant progress in embracing and investing in connectivity, with a global average score of 73 out of 100.

As part of the EUR 3 million ITU-EC project Promoting and Measuring Universal and Meaningful Digital Connectivity, the Universal and Meaningful Connectivity (UMC) Dashboard was launched to track national and global progress towards universal and meaningful connectivity.

The 2023 edition of the World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium (WTIS-23) emphasized the need for quality and timely data to measure universal and meaningful connectivity. Under the theme, “Advancing the measurement agenda to achieve universal and meaningful connectivity”, participants discussed emerging trends, challenges, and collaborative solutions to improve the measurement of meaningful digital connectivity globally.
