Giga

  • 12 additional countries joined Giga – Barbados, Belize, Benin, Botswana, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Guinea, Mongolia, Namibia, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago and Zimbabwe  – as confirmation of the international community’s trust in the Giga’s vision to connect all schools to the Internet by 2030.

Connect2Recover

  • Connect2Recover continued to work with Australia, Czech Republic, Japan, Lithuania and Saudi Arabia and received an additional contribution of USD 277,777 from Japan, and CZK 600,000 from Czech Republic, benefitting over 20 countries across the ITU Regions and demonstrating the impact of partnerships for accelerating the implementation of resilient digital infrastructure.
  • A National Workshop on the Assessment of Resilience of Networks and Infrastructure was held in Haiti with the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL) to identify gaps and bottlenecks to ensure the resilience of Haiti’s telecommunications networks and infrastructure and to better prepare for future natural hazards. 

Partner2Connect

  • BDT has taken Partner2Connect around the world to ensure that pledges are operationalized and turned into tangible results to make life-changing digital futures a reality for everyone.
  • 5 Regional Partner2Connect Matchmaking Roundtables, part of the ITU’s Regional Development Forums, allowed participants to review and report on the implementation of announced pledges and committed to match country and regional needs with concrete solutions.
  • The Partner2Connect Annual Meeting was held on 12 December to brief the international community on the progress made by the Coalition. Read the Annual Report here.
