B-PON OMCI enhancements and support for additional services

In the B-PON system defined in ITU-T Rec. G.983.1 [3] (called ATM-PON in ITU-T Rec. G.983.1), the ONTs are located at the customer site. The B-PON element management system will only manage ONTs as part of the B-PON system through the OLT using the ONT management and control interface (OMCI).This Recommendation presents requirements for the OMCI. First, it specifies managed entities of a protocol-independent Management Information Base (MIB) that models the exchange of information between the OLT and ONT. Then, it covers the ONT management and control channel, protocol and detailed messages. This revised version of ITU-T Rec. G.983.2 incorporates the material from ITU-T Rec. G.983.2 Amendments 1 and 2.
