Esta Recomendación se refiere a la instalación de cables de fibra óptica de hilo de guarda (OPGW, optical fibre ground wire cable). Trata de los factores que han de considerarse para determinar las características de este tipo de cable, los aparatos necesarios, las precauciones a adoptar en la manipulación de las bobinas de cable y el método que debe utilizarse para tender el cable y realizar empalmes.
