This is the recent revision of the standard which has been traditionally relied upon by the ITU-T Recommendations specifying PON systems (G.983, G.984, G.987 and G.989 series) to provide a globally unique ONU serial number. The ONU serial number contains two components: Vendor ID, specified in the referenced document, and the Vendor-specific serial number (VSSN).
