Summary: When the internet data centre is co-sited with high-voltage power substation, the dangerous effects from the latter should be considered. Therefore, protective measures against electromagnetic disturbances, including the rise of earth potential, shall be provided in order to ensure the operation of ICT equipment and the safety of nearby persons. Below are the main points which should be taken into account in this proposed new recommendation: a. The calculation of the ground fault current in high voltage transmission lines and buses. b. The dangerous effects of earth potential rise to ICT equipment, the permitted value of earth potential rise, and the protective measures. c. The calculation of electromagnetic interference of high voltage system on ICT equipment and system, the preferred tests for ICT equipment, and the protective measures. d. The considerations and protective measures for dangerous effects to nearby persons.
