Summary:
|
Smart and sustainable cities and communities measure their performance through well-defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Measurement of these KPIs rely on collected data and their accuracy. Next Generation Urban Measurements methodology described in this draft Recommendation uses innovative sensing techniques to collect extensive and more frequent city data from various locations in the city at different times.
Hence data for city KPIs such as air quality, noise pollution, road quality and traffic congestion, among others, may potentially be collected by using the Next Generation Urban Measurements methodology described in this draft Recommendation. This draft Recommendation provides a structured step-wise methodology to help cities apply the Next Generation Urban Measurements techniques. It also indicates big data implications and related high-level building blocks required for implementing Next Generation Urban Measurements.
