Summary:

Internet of Things has become fundamental technology of service infrastructure with convergence with the other emerging ICT to produce intelligent and autonomous solution.
At the beginning, IoT technology focuses on “something connected”. After connecting devices or sensors, ICT services obtain the useful information and have utilized it for accomplishing life convenience and increasing productivity. These days, Human being does not think of ‘connectivity’ is not a new technology anymore. Human being expects more convenient life style and accomplishes much more products and better services. Such expectations make it that IoT does not just remain technology of ‘connectivity’ itself but also developing and evolving into ‘intelligence’ and ‘autonomy’.
In fact, there are a lot of things to be developed for future IoT. In IoT, intelligence and connectivity enable an entirely new set of product functions and capabilities, which can be grouped into four areas: monitoring, control, optimization, and autonomy.
IoT can be categorized into three stages: 1st Stage: connectivity, 2nd Stage: intelligence, 3rd Stage: autonomy. The state of IoT technology remains at the beginning of 2nd stage for intelligence. Connectivity can be achieved with two or more devices only. However, the intelligence and autonomy of IoT require the other emerging technologies, such as AI, Cloud, Edge computing, DLT, Big Data and so on for convergence services.
This new work item is to provide a framework how IoT is merged with technologies of AI, Cloud, Edge computing, DLT and, (Big) data for enhancement of service intelligence. This draft Recommendation describes overviews, architecture, functional capabilities and procedures of convergence framework based on IoT.
