Avatars are digital representations of users within virtual environments or online platforms in metaverse applications. They can take various forms. As the data of avatars which are tied to users' information are critical considerations in the metaverse applications, it is important to protect the data of avatars which is digital.
This technical report aims to define the data related to avatars and provides an introduction and background on security threat and data protection in avatars interactions and activities in metaverse applications and recommendations for standardization activities.
This technical report provides use cases for avatars interactions and activities and describes the data protection measures in use cases if applicable.
To achieve this, investigations and categorizations should be conducted on types and interactions and activities of avatars and spaces where they operate.
