Summary:
|
This Recommendation specifies syntax and semantics of terminal information messages as well as procedures to use them for in-band negotiation at the start of or during communication. The messages cover receiving and transmitting capabilities as well as mode preference from the receiving end, logical channel signalling, and Control & Indication. Acknowledged signalling procedures are specified to ensure reliable audiovisual and data communication.
Products claiming compliance with Version 143 of H.245 shall comply with all of the mandatory requirements of this Recommendation. Version 143 products can be identified by H.245 TerminalCapabilitySet messages containing a protocolIdentifier value of {itu-t (0) recommendation (0) h (8) 245 version (0) 143}.
Relative to H.245 Version 12 13 (20052006-1005), this version includes:
o as in Erratum 1 (10/2006), in Table VIII.1/H.245, correct GenericH235securityCapability capability identifiers by adding a missing space;
o as in Erratum 2 (11/2007), correct Figure X.3/H.245 by changing terminal A label from master to slave and terminal B label from slave to master;
o as in the H.323 System Implementors' Guide, assigned correct (unique) Object Identifiers to 'ITU-R BS.1196' and 'RFC3389 comfort-noise' capabilities;
o added entry to Table VIII.1 to indicate the generic capability defined in H.241 for "Set Submode Capability" as described in C-339;
o added element mcuNumber to the ASN.1 syntax for TerminalYouAreSeeingInSubPictureNumber as described in C-399;
o added ASN.1 changes as described in C-319 and C-321; and
o added OIDs from TD-478/WP2 (07/2007), which are OIDs related to H.324.
o added H.361 (ex H.mmqos) ASN.1 syntax and semantics;
o added H.249 OID descriptions to Appendix VIII;
o minor modifications to the existing ASN.1 to achieve compilation. This involved adding line breaks, tabs, and in one case replacing what looks like - with a real - comment marker; and
o the removal of "TIA/EIA" from the parameter name in Table J.2 - this is an editorial problem identified in March 2005.
