ITU Telecom World 2012 to convene major ICT
stakeholders, set the stage for global change
Geneva, 30 March 2012
– ITU’s upcoming ITU Telecom World 2012
event will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 14-18 October
2012. The event, which follows the format pioneered at World 2011, will see
interactive debate, networking and knowledge-sharing placed firmly at the centre
of an influential discussion agenda.
ITU Telecom World 2012 will welcome a mix of leaders of governments, senior
executives, key players from big business, technology companies; manufacturers,
operators, content and applications providers plus regulators, policy advisers,
academia and representatives of global media. Organized by ITU, the event is
hosted by the government of UAE and takes place alongside GITEX, the leading ICT
event for the Middle East, Africa and the South Asian region.
ITU Telecom World 2012 highlights will include:
Leadership Summit: roundtables and discussions for top-level representatives of governments
and global business.
Critical Debates: spanning issues such as new business and investment models, innovation,
development and the economic crisis, energy efficiency, privacy and
cybersecurity, citizen services – how governments can best communicate and
engage online with their citizens – the applications and limitations of cloud
computing, and more.
Big Conversations: an opportunity for government, industry & thought leaders to come
together and debate differing perspectives of critical industry issues in a
stimulating, participatory discussion.
Workshops: breakout sessions and workshops provide a more targeted look at core
industry areas.
Technology Insight: cutting-edge information exchange between technical pioneers and
digital innovators
Young Innovators Competition:
the
chance for the next generation of young entrepreneurs to demo their ideas and
innovations on this world stage.
Enhanced Networking Opportunities:
international and regional media can connect with global ICT leaders in
