ITU Telecom World 2015 heads to Budapest this October

Event to focus on accelerating ICT innovation for social impact

ACCREDITATION OPEN

Geneva, 23 July 2015 – ITU Telecom World 2015, the global ICT innovation event, takes place from 12-15 October 2015 in Budapest, Hungary. The accreditation process for media is now open. Accredited media will gain full access to all different components of the event, including the Leadership Summit, Forum sessions and the Exhibition, and will be able to take part in a host of networking opportunities alongside leading public/private sector representatives.

ITU Telecom World 2015 aims to help ideas go further, faster and to promote the innovative, transformative ICT-enabled solutions that will make the world better, sooner. This year the event has an increased emphasis on accelerating innovation and the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ITU recognizes the crucial role of SMEs, entrepreneurs, national innovation hubs and accelerator programs within the global ICT ecosystem, enabling every nation to compete in the global arena, and contributing to the socio-economic development of markets everywhere.

Discussions will begin with the Leadership Summit, bringing together highest level participants from government and industry to debate “Accelerating Digital Innovation for Social impact,” followed by interactive panel sessions on “Connectivity goals: the reality of reaching everyone by 2020 and why it matters so much,” and  Integrating digital markets: new building blocks to regional integration”- a unique opportunity to debate in detail the benefits, challenges and opportunities of digital single markets with a multi-sector international panel of experts.

Taking a variety of formats from panel debates, workshops, high-level round tables and keynotes, main Forum discussions will then explore three main tracks: Expanding access to digital opportunity, Building trust for a connected future and Accelerating digital transformation. Key topics to be explored within these include establishing regional digital single markets, fostering ICT start-ups, entrepreneurs and innovation, establishing trust between consumers, industry and government to realize the potential of the digital economy and overcoming the digital divide in access, content and data through innovative connectivity solutions.

Running in parallel to the debates, the Exhibition highlights innovative solutions and ICT applications, partnership potential and investment opportunities. Explore National Pavilions, SME and Start-up Pods and Industry Stands from across the world spanning emerging and developed markets, dynamic start-ups to leading global names. Top players present in the Exhibition include Gew Technologies, Huawei, Intel, Magyar Telekom, TDIA and ZTE with countries and SMEs represented from across the globe including Azerbaijan, China, Djibouti, Hungary, Republic of Korea, Malawi, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Smart Africa Pavilion (Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda), Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
