Role of Media Relations Officers

Media Relations Officers are staff of delegations who act as focal point for all media-related matters.

Designating a Media Relations Officer ensures your organization gains full access to our media relations services and that accredited journalists know whom to contact for queries/requests relating to your delegation’s participation. It is therefore imperative that you designate such a focal point.

  1. obtaining Media Centre Overpasses (2 per delegation) which are required to access to the Media Centre — whether it is to meet journalists, use the interview rooms, or deliver documents for media
  2. booking press events that will be included in the Summit Event Calendar, which will be displayed on plasma screens throughout the venue, and on the web for public access
  3. reserving pigeonholes for distribution of delegation’s documents to the media
  4. obtaining access to the Accredited Media List

These services will only be accessible by Media Relations Officers through the use of a username and password delivered by the Media Service upon nomination.

Moreover, accredited media will be given access to the list of Media Relations Officers through authenticated access, to facilitate contact with delegations’ media relations officers.

In the absence of a designated Media Relations Officer, it will be extremely difficult for the WSIS Media Service to foster contact with the media regarding your participation at the Summit.
