Honourable Yogida Sawmynaden is the Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation of the Republic of Mauritius. Honourable Yogida Sawmynaden holds a BA (Hons) Accounting & Law (UK), a Masters in Business Administration (UK) and a Diplome de 3ème cycle en Management Internationale (France). At 44 years old, he is one of the youngest Ministers of the Government. He has been in politics since 2001 when he was elected as a Councillor for the Municipality of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill. Two years later, he became Deputy Mayor. In December 2014, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for constituency No 8 (Quartier Militaire/Moka). He thereafter served as the Minister of Youth and Sports. He brought a new impetus to that Ministry and yielded results very quickly, notably in 2015 when Mauritius had its best performance ever at the Indian Ocean Island Games and Jeux d’Afrique. Since January 2017, Honourable Minister Yogida Sawmynaden has been assigned the portfolio of Technology, Communication and Innovation. His main objective is to position the ICT sector as the main pillar of the Mauritian economy and to promote Innovation for the transformation of Mauritius into a high-income digital country.
