Ms. Areewan Haorangsi was elected the Secretary General of the APT by the General Assembly of the APT in 2014 and took office on 9 February 2015. She was re-elected in 2017 to continue her second term from 9 February 2018.

Prior to taking up this position, Ms. Haorangsi was the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) of Thailand.

She began her career in the Ministry of Transport (MOT), Thailand in 1981 and joined the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) in 2003. Her long tenure with the government had been in the policy and planning as well as the international affairs.

Ms. Haorangsi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (International Relations), Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and a Master of Business Administration (Management of Technology), Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.
