Garen Avanesian is working as a Data Analyst (Education) in the Data and Analytics Section of UNICEF Headquarters in New York. He holds a PhD degree in Economic Sociology and Demography. Prior to joining UNICEF, he was working as a data analyst at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Garen’s current work at UNICEF is focused on the analysis of digital divide and its implications for education. His major interests include education, inequality analysis, social mobility, and statistical methodologies.
