Orizur, a South African based cyberlaw consultancy firm, in association with the UN's International Telecommunication Union (ITU) brings you a webinar to celebrate the annual ITU Girls in ICT Day. Out local theme is "removing barriers for inclusive STEM education" derived from the ITU 2022 theme "access and safety." According to ITU's latest data, the proportion of women using the Internet globally amounts to 48 percent, compared to 55 percent of men. In relative terms, this means that the global Internet user gender gap stands at 12.5 percent. If women are unable to access the internet and feel unsafe online, they are unable to develop digital skills and participate in digital spaces, diminishing their opportunities to pursue a career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.Therefore, this event aims to encourage women to pursue studying STEM, share some light on digital skills training programs, raise awareness on meaningful and safe use of ICT, and encourage guest speakers to share personal experiences to inspire participants.
