Achievements
The World Telecommunication Development Conference 2017 stipulated five priority areas of work for ITU in the Arab States Region under the ARB Regional Initiatives (ARB RI). This project assisted ITU Member States in the Arab region in transitioning from IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) to IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) for Internet of Things (IoT). In concrete, the project enhanced the readiness to IPv6 of 4 countries (Republic of Iraq, State of Palestine, Republic of Somalia and Republic of Sudan), enhanced skills of countries at regional, national and institutional level with priority given to Arab LDCs and countries with special PP and WTDC resolutions (in the area of capacity building in the IPv6 and IoT) and established one stablished that will serves as a regional center to support accelerating development and deployment of IPv6 and IoT in Arab region by providing its expertise to Arab countries.
