Oxfam GB

Europe, United kingdom, Oxford, United Kingdom

We're hosting a special schools event at Oxfam House to inspire young women to consider a career in ICT. We'll be challenging stereotypes around what a career in ICT looks like in reality, in part by introducing them to a range of women in ICT who work across Oxfam GB. We'll have inspiring external speakers, including a young woman who last year won the acclaimed 'Apps for Good' competition and has now changed her career direction towards the ICT sector. The girls will also attend a series of workshops, to learn more about how Oxfam GB is harnessing tech to do its business better across its core areas of work: Public Engagement, emergency response and programming. The girls will have the opportunity to speak first hand to the women working within these teams. In the afternoon, the girls will participate in a tech focussed 'creatathon' and a member of the Oxfam leadership team will judge the winning team.
